Yamaha b Series

An upright for the next generation.

The b Series consistently delivers a unique combination of performance and attention to detail at pleasing prices. A sturdy design features back posts for added strength, endowing the series with an unrivalled richness and sound depth. Yamaha’s renowned, pure, clear tone and easy-toplay responsive touch of the keyboard make these uprights ideal for beginning piano students. And all this comes with the lasting beauty and years of trouble-free musical enjoyment guaranteed by Yamaha craftsmanship and quality control.

Yamaha took everything they learned from more than a century of crafting fine pianos, and created an instrument to inspire the next generation of players. The result is an elegant, compact piano with a responsive keyboard and a clear, resonant tone. Whether you’re a beginner, a budding virtuoso or accomplished musician, the b Series is an absolute joy to play.

Small space; big sound

The b Series takes its inspiration from the popular U-series, with soundboards and ribs crafted from premium tone woods and fine spruce. The result is pianos that perform far beyond the entry level.

Back posts; forward-thinking

Years of cutting-edge research, including Yamaha’s proprietary wood-drying process, result in back posts that maintain their shape, strength and resonance for years to come.

Advanced V-Pro frame

Yamaha was the first company to use advanced Vacuum Shield Mold casting technology (V-Pro) to create a stronger, lighter, more durable piano frame. Every b Series frame is built to exacting specifications at the Iwata Forge in Japan.

Specially designed hammers

b Series hammers are crafted of the finest materials, and painstakingly designed for each model, to provide optimum tone, response, and a lifetime of musical enjoyment.

Hand-wound bass strings

Yamaha artisans in the factory in Kakegawa, Japan oversee the winding of pure copper, and adjust the balance & tension of each bass string to the exacting standards and sound profile of every b Series piano.

The world’s first aluminum action rail

Often copied but never equaled, the patented Yamaha aluminum action rail helps assure their piano keyboards are resistant to tiny fluctuations in humidity and temperature over time.

Affordable quality

Produced at a Yamaha factory in Indonesia from a scale design developed in Japan, b Series pianos are Yamaha’s most affordable entry-level uprights. Although reduced production costs allow budget-friendly prices, Yamaha makes no compromises in the materials and workmanship that go into these exceptional uprights.

Quality components; quality sound

Supported by four sturdy wooden back posts and a strong cast iron frame, b Series pianos are endowed with Yamaha’s renowned pure, clear tone. High-grade hammers and a proven action design offer effortless playing and a highly responsive keyboard ‘touch’ that make these uprights ideal for beginning players.

Design

Yamaha’s b Series features pianos in a range of heights, widths, and depths. The b1 and b2 boast slender profiles, making them ideal for small spaces. With its larger dimensions and heavier construction, the b3 upright requires a little more room but brings a rich, far-reaching sound.
