SOLD – Steinway Model L
What a stunning instrument. This Steinway is truly one of a kind – their Model L Grand was introduced in 1923, replacing their Model O with a wider tail and improved scale design. This excellent example from 1960 has been regulated, received new bass strings, and has had its stunning plum pudding mahogany finish repaired and rejuvenated. The action is just on the lighter side of the mean, and with the new bass strings, it has an impressively large sound when the pianist commands it, but just as easily responds to a delicate touch when when needed for gentler passages. Built in 1960 when Henry Z. Steinway was president of the company, he would, on occasion, come to a special series of instruments and sign the cast-iron plate. (See picture)
