Titus Abbott
Titus Abbott, with over 20 years teaching private students, presents the learning of saxophone and clarinet with an innovative approach to both children and adults from beginner to advanced. Lessons cover: correct embouchure, breathing techniques, sound development and conception, tonguing & legato playing, technique development, repertoire development, jazz phrasing and improvisation.
Titus brings a very personal approach to reeds performance. He has performed as leader and sideman in various ensembles in Canada, Europe and the US most notably with his chamber jazz trio Delawareness that played extensively in Toronto and Montreal and at festivals. That project culminated in the recording of the CD Excellent in Woe featuring Titus with George Koller on bass and Larry Lewis on classical guitar. Titus started his studies with tenor saxophonist Pat Labarbera in Toronto, Canada. Later he was accepted to a prestigious residency at The Banff Center studying with Kenny Wheeler, Dave Holland, Muhal Richard Abrams and Steve Coleman. He then focused on jazz composition studies while residing in London, England with Graham Collier at which time he discovered an interest in Music for Film. After completing a degree in classical composition from the University of Montreal, Titus has divided his energies between both film music composition and jazz performance.
